11.1.21- Remote Learning Information
Proficient Morning Toucans! I hope that you have all had a lovely weekend.
As Miss Todd stated in her App message at the cease of concluding week things are going to be a little different with home learning this week and for the weeks going forrad while we are at domicile.
Instead of 1 email a week I am going to electronic mail you each school day with a brief timetable of work for the day, the email volition also include resource that y'all will need for the twenty-four hour period (I plan to email this the night before in case you desire to get any resources ready before the next twenty-four hours). This program is only a guideline as to when you lot could consummate the activities, it is completely up to you and your parents every bit to when and in what order you complete the work. (Parents- I have put the piece of work into a timetable purely then it follows Authorities Guidance to set daily work which is similar to our school day and covers the iii hours of learning that we are required to set. Please do not experience that y'all accept to follow the timetable (or that I am telling you lot when to have your suspension and lunchtimes!), information technology is purely to reflect our school twenty-four hours. It is of course upwards to you as a parent when you lot complete the work and information technology tin can be equally flexible equally y'all wish.) I n Monday'southward e-mail you will also a recieve a timetable of the activities that are to follow for the rest of the week.
I volition now only be setting work via your tabecat email address and I will not exist putting information technology on here as well. I know that most of you have already been accesssing your e-mail accounts but if not here is some information to aid you lot to get logged in.
In order to access your emails please click on the email link on the tabecat page. If you do this on a device or telephone equally this is a google account information technology may automatically bring upwards your other gmail accounts in which case you will need to add your email.
The e-mail accost is username @tabecat.com and the countersign is the same as your log in.
Please keep sending any completed work to me, I love seeing it! If possible please send any work over to be past Thursday so that I tin send feedback on Friday near how your home learning has gone for the week.
Have a lovely week, any questions delight ask,
Mrs Nethersole
Below is some information that Mr Handy sent out earlier this year well-nigh how to access your emails.
A reminder of how our pupil emails are gear up up that will hopefully help:
Since 2010 nosotros have used G Suite for Education (GSfE) for all staff & pupil email addresses. This is a Google product designed for educational utilise and does not have adverts. Each element of a usual Google account (Gmail, Drive etc.) is mirrored in K Suite for Pedagogy. The difference is that as a school we have greater command over what can and tin not exist done with each element, for example restricting access or filtering content.
Every student at Holy Trinity has a Google business relationship using GSfE. The username for that account is their Tabecat electronic mail address. (In the same way an adult's Google account username is their Gmail address.)
Imagine a student called Bob Bobness (it's the imaginary person I utilize in lessons!) His Google account username is bobbob@tabecat.com - his email address.
So, when Bob wants to access his email and clicks on the email link on www.tabecat.com he is taken to a GMail/Google Account login page - because his school e-mail address is office of his Google account.
The username is bobbob@tabecat.com and the countersign is the usual password for other logins.
If every bit a parent you are already logged into your GMail/Google Account you tin choose to logout or "add together another account" - in this case add together means login as bobbob@tabecat.com
You do non need to register a new electronic mail account.
On a Chromebook your child can login using their Tabecat email address & usual password.
On an Android device you tin can add a new Google account and employ your kid's Tabecat e-mail address & usual countersign for this.
Your child's Tabecat email address is a GMail/Google account.
child@tabecat.com works the same way as parent@gmail.com
Your child tin can merely email within the people at school: to & from other @ tabecat.com (pupils) and @ holytrinithalstead.com (staff) email addresses. Some Google features are switched off for due east-condom reasons.
Note 1: Logging into the Chrome browser or a Chromebook using your child's Tabecat accost comes with actress e-condom protection as adblockers and content filters are automatically pushed out as they are at school. It can't be as strict as using our broadband at school with its actress filters, but information technology is useful.
Notation ii: Tabecat is our due east-condom mascot, which is why we have a Tabecat page and the chidren's email accounts are @ tabecat.com
I know that this seem quite a lot to take in, but the bits in bold are the key bits. From the emails we've been receiving I know that a lot of pupils accept been accessing their email accounts at home, but I sympathize that if you don't know your child's email is a Google Business relationship information technology can cause some defoliation.
Please allow united states of america know if you are still having problems and we'll try and assist.

Not only making certain the numbers are the right way around, but also making certain that the digits are in the right place (twenty 7 for example is written 27 and not 72).
We take been doing lots of phonics this week and nosotros have fifty-fifty had a go at a practise phonics screening check. This calendar week nosotros take looked at the ar audio and we have been having a look at phase 4 which is lots of blending to read words.
We haven't had Mrs Mann in this week so nosotros haven't managed to test the Maths award targets. If your kid has missed their turn and are set up to exist tested please write a annotation in their diary and we will make sure that they are tested next week.
It is lovely that some children are starting to complete their first reading rewards, well done to those children who are managing to read at habitation.
If you have asked for an engagement for a phone parent consultation for side by side calendar week nosotros have sent these dwelling house with your kid this afternoon.
Take a lovely weekend,
Toucan Team
We have had a great week this week. Information technology was lovely to meet so many different things that the children collect on Tuesday and the children had fun talking about these and asking each other questions about their collections. They had fun and worked hard during their 'Walk for the Walkway, Run for the Covers!' today and hopefully will have raised lots of coin for the new walkways and covers needed effectually school.
This week in Phonics we take been looking at the or sound and some it'south alternatives (aw and au) . The children have been brilliant at spotting these in words and we have practised writing lots of these words likewise. Information technology would exist corking if you could try and spot these sounds in their reading or remind them to utilize the correct representation when writing these words. We accept also done some general stage 5 revision this calendar week and the children will be bringing home an action booklet that they have started in course that they tin stop off at home.
Although the children haven't been set any formal homework yet (this is coming soon), I would really like for all the children to endeavour and read every twenty-four hour period! If they forget their reading book one nighttime then please recall that they all have books available on Bug Order or they can read their library book or whatever story from home instead.
Don't forget.......
-

Accept a lovely weekend, encounter you on Monday,
Toucan Team
Toucan Class take worked actually hard on their writing this week, I have been very impressed with their vocabulary choices and the effort they are putting in to endeavor and brand their writing audio heady. We are of course yet making sure we think finger spaces and punctuation in the right places. They likewise had a vivid walk with Mr Handy and he sang their praises about how smashing they were whilst out and about around boondocks.
Side by side week linked to work in our English language lessons we are going to wait at collections. If your child has something that they collect at dwelling, it could be pokemon cards, football cards or dolls for case we would like you lot to share this with the states. Please could y'all bring in or email us (nnethersole@holytrinityhalstead.com) a photo of your kid's collection gear up to be shared on Tuesday.
In phonics we have looked at the oe sound and some of it'south alternatives (o-east, oe and ow) and the oi/oy sound. Nosotros have practised reading and writing lots of words with these sounds in, it would be groovy if you could endeavour and spot these words in their reading or remind them to employ the right representation when writing these words.
Although the children are not able to visit the library and choose books at the moment, Mrs Wrigley Brooks is bringing effectually a book trolley each week for the children to be able to choose books from. This will happen on a Mon afternoon, if your child wishes to swap their library book so please make certain that they accept their book to return ready on that day.
Don't forget to read as much as you lot tin, ideally every solar day, information technology really does brand a departure to your child'southward reading progress and helps them in all subject field areas.
Have a neat weekend,

We take had a really busy week this week. We accept completed some food tasting and used this to get together lots of vocabulary for our writing, we have done lots of work looking at numbers and their place value in Maths and nosotros accept learnt about how we grow and change in Science. In phonics we accept looked at the igh sound and some of information technology's alternatives (i-e and ie) and the oe audio and some of it'south alternatives (o-eastward, oe and ow). We have practised reading and writing lots of words with these sounds in, it would be great if you could effort and spot these words in their reading or remind them to utilise the correct representation when writing these words.
Although originally we said the children could only change their reading books on a Mon or Th this didn't seem to piece of work so well in class, and then we are reverting dorsum to them being able to change their book whenever they need to. Nosotros take a separate box that the children add their books into and books will stay in 'quarantine' for at least 48 hours before existence put back. Delight remember though it is useful to read the books more than once as repetition is a great way for your child to acquire those unfamiliar words and develop fluency in reading. Information technology is too important to talk near the books to ensure that your kid understands and comprehends what they have read. If your child wishes to change their book information technology is their responsibleness to make us aware, withal if your not sure your child will remember please put it in their Toucan diary as these are checked daily.
Equally you may of heard from your child we didn't get on our walk on Friday due to the bad atmospheric condition and traffic chaos around Halstead, Mr Handy volition be taking them on Monday the 28th September instead.
Some other great calendar week, savor your weekend,

We have tested all the children on their phoneme recognition over the last calendar week and have sent home their phoneme mats and then that you can work on these with your children. Whatever audio that has a tick by information technology your kid already knows and any that are underlined are ones that we are working on with them at school. If your child has them all ticked off information technology would withal be useful for yous to recap these from fourth dimension to time, just to make sure that they don't forget them! We are decorated doing daily phonics in course to make sure that nosotros are fix for the screening cheque after half term. This week nosotros have been revisiting the ai sound and some of it'due south alternatives (a_e and ay) and the ee sound and some of it's alternatives (east, ea and e_e). Nosotros take practised reading and writing lots of words with these sounds in information technology would exist great if yous could try and spot these words in their reading.
Every kid now also has their current Maths award targets in their Toucan communication books and these volition be tested every other week on a Th. It would exist very helpful if you could point in their diary whether they accept been practising these at home.
