Nipsey Hussle The Marathon Continues: Review

image

This is Nipsey's second mixtape from his marathon series. The first mixtape was simply chosen "The Marathon" this one, it continues. Besides this is the second series of mixtapes from Nipsey. His first series was called "Bullets Ain't Got No Name" Volumes 1, 2 and 3. Nipsey has grown tremendously from each project. I would say "The Marathon" project was my favorite mixtape from 2009, so my expectations and anticipation for this projection was quite loftier. Ordinarily when an creative person sets a loftier bar with a slice of work, the next one falls short.

The project starts off with the instrumental that "The Marathon" tape ended with. I idea that was a groovy beginning. It made me feel like Nipsey'southward going to pick upward correct where he left off. And so it goes right into "Road To Riches" where he talks most what he has been going through since his last effort. "Who Discrete U.s.a." (Feat. Steve Jobs). One of his best tracks even so. The hook is very powerful:

"Now every second is a classic, when nothing last/Gotta have a moment and appreciate the fact that, this globe is turning faster and faster and once you felt the real its difficult to tolerate the plastic/ I own't no christian, ain't no catholic but I believe God gonna shine his lite on everyone that never had shit/ I need some answers to these questions that I'm asking/ We employ to be connected, who detached us?"

With the 2 curt verses, he gets his point across. Ironically, the vocal ends with a oral communication from Steve Jobs almost death. Very inspirational. He stays within the projects concept with "Run A Lap" with a catchy hook and shows the growth from his previous. "Thas Wat Hoes Do"(Feat. YG & Rimpau), the weakest track on "TMC". From eh verses to a repetitive claw. The "Everythang" beat caught my ear. The problem I have with this track is the use of auto-tune. You can hear the effort but information technology gets annoying. "Fly Crippin" (Feat. Coddy $urpreme) this vocal is directed to "Gang Banging" but I like information technology. Early in Nipsey's career, his whole projects were on the gang banging tip. I can deal with one especially if it sounds like this. "I Need That" (Feat. Dom Kennedy) two of my favorite artists coming out of the west coast. They couldn't get incorrect, this is a hot track. This is the turning bespeak in the project, Nipsey at his best. "Forever On Some Fly Shit" one of my favorite tracks on the project. Mellow beat and Nipsey flows effortlessly. "Tommy Gunz" (Feat. Yung Brodee) Nipsey's verse is quotable full and has a solid verse from Brodee. "Rose Clique" is a rail that shows that few others on the west or hip-hop for that matter can go bar for bar with him. "10 Toes" is about standing on your own 2 feet.

"So don't shoot me downwardly when I fly/ On the route to the riches in that location's a whole grip of niggas that volition wreck they cars and won't ride".

Probably my favorite Nipsey Hussle rails to date, "The Mansion" which is a amazing display of Nipsey'south lyrical ability. This runway was leaked months agone and I'm still finding quotables to this day. That's what makes a bully artist in my eyes. "Outro" is a great ending to a good project where Nipsey reminds usa to stay on your grind.

"She tells me that I'yard wrong for not using emotions/Also decorated to love a board and I can't lose focus/ merely maybe in a dissimilar life/ maybe when we make it we'll run into at the finish line/ maybe this organized religion/ perhaps God volition send a sign. But more than than likely he'll say nigga grind"

This was a very well put together projection. It had a couple of bumps but has a smoothen flow. Nipsey has grown a lot as an artist from "Bullets Ain't Got No Name". Well-nigh of the tracks on those projects were freestyles and a bunch of tracks with his group and less him. Now you tin tell where the focus is now, himself. He tin write hooks at present to go with his lyrics. He can create songs. His beat choice is pretty good too, Nipsey transformed himself from a rapper to a hip hop creative person. He is ane of the top new artist'southward in hip hop today. He reminds me of Snoop Dogg with how raw he was when he came out. The difference betwixt him and Snoop is that Snoop had Dr. Dre for guidance. Hopefully Nipsey gets signed to that right deal and situation where he is propelled into stardom. Nipsey has taught me that life is not a race, it is a marathon. Just the strongest and mentally fit make it. TMC!
